Welcome to the fifth edition of the UcanACT newsletter that will keep you updated on the busy second half of 2024 in the project’s lifecycle and the most recent deliverables.

UcanACT has a dedicated YouTube channel where we publish the project's materials. So far, we have 2 webinars and 1 participant testimonial shared on the channel, and as the project moves on to its next phases, we will upload more videos, so watch this space.

In spring 2024, the three pilot territories presented the initial Citizens Engagement Strategy Deployment Plan before pilot round 1, available here.

During the European Week of Sport, which will take place from 23 - 30 September 2024, our project partner, the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, will host a webinar titled "European Week of Sport: Urban Action Against Cancer (UcanACT)" discussing research exploring the role of exercise in cancer prevention and control with an overview of the UcanACT project presented by Dr Emer Guinan of Trinity College Dublin. The UcanACT project represents this year's European Week of Sport priorities of inclusion, well-being, and belonging - ensuring that people over 50, and those who live with or recover from cancer can #BeActive.

PTs are not only experts in rehabilitation but also key players in preventive health strategies. Their role in educating the community about the benefits of physical activity, especially in relation to chronic diseases such as cancer, and providing a safe environment to work with, is invaluable.
