Purposes and legal basis for the processing

The UcanACT project is an intersectoral initiative funded by the European Union joining together physiotherapists, local authorities, non-profit organisation, higher education and research institutions. The project aims to engage adults and senior citizens over the age of 50 who never have suffered from cancer diseases (primary prevention), who were diagnosed with cancer (secondary prevention) or who are cancer survivors (tertiary prevention), in practicing physical activity (PA) as a tool for cancer prevention within public urban green spaces (PUGS). To that end, practical guidelines and recommendations on how to provide appropriate physical activity for cancer prevention will be provided to physiotherapists and health professionals.

The UcanACT website supports the project's objectives by allowing you to:

  • Be regularly informed of the project progress;

  • Subscribe to the UcanACT newsletter;

  • As a physiotherapist or health professional, to enroll in the UcanACT Massive Open Online Course (MOOC);

  • As a physiotherapist or health professional, to participate in the UcanACT course, including engaging with course content, taking tests, and obtaining your results and any certificates.

To provide you these services, we must collect personal information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. The UcanACT project will therefore collect and store achievement and log data volunteered via the MOOC, and information volunteered via the newsletter subscription contact form. When you contact us directly by the website and subscribe to our newsletter, you may provide us personal information such as email address, name and any other information you include in your communications with us.

With regards to the Massive Open Online Course, the data collected is only used internally by the UcanACT consortium in order to make the course operational and accessible to any physiotherapist and other health professional wishing to deliver cancer-preventive physical activity exercises to adults and senior citizens within public urban green spaces. By providing personal data, the user is guaranteed to receive the UcanACT Badge and certification for completing the MOOC.

Any information provided in this manner is not made available to any third parties and is used by the UcanACT project solely for the purposes for which it is provided. UcanACT may contact individuals who provided their contact details via the MOOC. Such contact would solely entail receiving reminders about their MOOC progress and the UcanACT newsletter.
